Someone walking along a street, checking the eSteps app on her phone.

eSteps App

Everything it does.

It reads how you walk all day, runs a timed walk test whenever you want one, and answers the questions that come after.

The eSteps app home screen: today's steps against a goal, distance and calories, a button to start a walk test, and average speed, pace, cadence and stride.

What it takes

  1. Any shoes you already own

No custom footwear, and nothing to calibrate.

  2. iPhone and Android

The insoles pair over Bluetooth and stay paired.

  3. About two weeks of battery

Motion-activated sleep, so it rests when you do.

Your day

It counts the steps you actually take.

The insoles record your ordinary walking. Nothing to start, nothing to remember. Open the app and the day is already there: steps against your goal, distance, and what changed since last week.

How tracking works
The home screen: 3,200 steps against a 5,800 goal, distance and calories underneath, then average speed, pace, cadence and stride.

Walk tests

A two-minute test, taken at home.

Calibrate, walk, stop, each one cued by a buzz in your shoe. When it ends you get the numbers a timed walk test produces: steps, duration, cadence, and stance and swing for each foot.

Inside a walk test
  • Setting up a two minute walk test: calibrate, walk, then stop.
  • A walk test running, counting down from two minutes.
  • Walk test results: total steps, duration, cadence over the walk, and stance and swing for each foot.

eSteps Coach

Ask it anything.

  • What is EDSS?
  • How many steps a day should I walk?
  • Can I lose weight by walking?
  • Is it better to walk faster or longer?
